Are you ready for summer, for grilling, and for time with family and friends? Well, we have just the thing to make you sing the Star Spangled Banner!

For your GRILLING PLEASURE on the Fourth, we have All Beef Burger Sliders and Ice Cream Sandwich Cookie Packs! Frozen and ready for pick up on Saturday, June 30, from 9 am - 4 pm. It's all made right here at Houlton Bakery, as always, with the best ingredients! Please call before 4 pm Thursday to place your order! We will do our best to accomodate last minute orders!

Each package contains 8 frozen All Beef Slider Patties, Buttered Buns

plus 4 delicious Housemade Ice Cream Sandwiches!

(Vanilla Ice Cream inside Two Chocolate Wafer Cookies).

Artist Becky Franz, Just in Time for Spring!

Houlton Bakery has a wonderful new showing of art work by Becky Franz, hanging on our freshly painted walls!  Perfect for this time of year, as we gain more light each day. She has provided this thoughtful artist statement for us to share with you:

"This old world, for all its bad news and stresses, does offer moments of magnificence to lift the spirits of those passing through. We need them desperately, for they nourish us and give us hope and courage. When I am painting, I go to a different place inside myself, and there I try to capture the images that have arrested me in my rambles, and given me pleasure. Sometimes it is a quality of light, a time of day, the essence of a person, a magical place, an indescribable color, or a beautiful shape. Holding these for myself, and capturing them to share with others is the challenge I give myself each time I paint.. When I get to that creative place and my work is going well, time goes away, and only the colors and the brush strokes remain. I am a daring, courageous child trying a new thing while lost in play, and in the end, if I succeed, the moment I sought to capture is on my canvas, to see and to share. It is a great satisfaction."

The Greens are Coming!

Next week, we are excited to report, beautiful, fresh, mixed greens are coming from Mizuna Gardens, grown right here in Warren, Oregon. Houlton Bakery has been serving Mizuna's mixed greens for 5 years, grown organically by Renee, with support from husband Jon and assistant Melody. Now you know, when you decide to have a green salad for lunch at the Bakery, you get delicious, healthy greens grown locally with passion...and a fresh baked roll with butter, too. Top your salad off with one of HB's three made-from-scratch house dressings: Creamy Caper Vinagrette, Herbed Ranch and Italian. We can't for the coming greens!

A lot of beautiful, elegant and perfectly delicious cakes have gone out of our doors in the past eight years! Many are decorated with fresh flowers from G and J's garden. The embellishments to each cake changes with the season. A visit to the bakery is always a visual treat; whether its a seasonal tarte in the case or a special order cake being decorated on the work table! Happy Holiday Hours at Houlton!

Thank you to all our great bakery customers for another wonderful year! We will be open between Christmas and New Year's, so in case you are craving a sticky bun or two, it can be found!
