Pizza and a Movie, Houlton Style

As our savvy newsletter customers already know, the pizzas today will be topped with sauteed chanterelle mushrooms, still arriving fresh from our pacific northwest forest floors. Served here with a simple spinach salad, the beautiful, hot crust and delicious toppings make for a satisfying meal. How about adding a fun, newly released movie, which has something for everyone in the family, Toy Story 3. If you are already a fan of Toy Story 1 & 2, you won't be disappointed, and if you haven't seen them, you can still enjoy this self contained cartoon with a story for kids and humor/emotion for adults too. A perfect combination of easy and fun!

At Your Feet - Bailey Hill's Micro-Topography

In case you haven't looked at the art work hanging in the Bakery, it's worth your while to pause a minute, while contemplating which scone or cookie to take home, and look closely at the beautifully detailed work by Bailey Hill. You will be fortunate to take a trip to Yellowstone without leaving behind the comfort of the your hazelnut cappuccino!

"The inspiration for this body of work comes from my observations of the effects of runoff from Palette Spring – part of Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park", says the artist in her statement. It is interesting, too, that she has been keeping notes on this area of the world for quite a few years, and has noticed the constant change that is caused by the mineral rich waters.

Bailey also states: "I am fascinated with the tiny details, layers, and abstract patterns and shapes in the natural world. I find it especially important to record the temporary, the changing displays in this outdoor gallery of nature’s creations"

As you look at her fine work, the topographic lines overlaying earthy colors, you will be drawn in, you too, will feel the earth at your feet.
